Starting Out

Working with Parents

As a registered child-minder my aim is to provide a relaxed, safe warm and caring environment for the children, so that they can grow, thrive and be happy. You, the parent, know your child best and I will endeavour to listen and act upon your advice.

Communication is vital, parents will be able to share any concerns that they may have about the welfare of their child with me.

Please always feel free to call me during the day with and questions or concerns.

Admissions and Settling Children

I ask parents of the child/children that are to be in my care to visit for about an hour to meet me and explore the services that I provide, also to discuss any requirements that they may have for their children.

I prefer to work on a slow integration of children, so that they can get used to me and their new surroundings, this can sometime take a little while but very beneficial to the parents and the child, making both feel secure and welcome.

I keep a general routine within the house, but this can always be made to flex and adapt for different children and their needs. I feel a good routine helps children to settle so that they are not surprised or worried by anything that may occur during the week, and also gives them a good daily structure.
